Expert Training and Certification
Saving lives isn’t a job to take lightly! Umbrella Aquatic Group certified trainers provide the highest level of training that prepares each participant to be a well-rounded and prepared lifeguard. Umbrella will handle all the training for those looking to lifeguard for the first time or for those whose certifications have expired. Our class work is done in a and blended learning (in person and online) course format.
The prerequisites for this course include being 15 years of age by the last day of the course and passing the pre-course swimming skills test.

Pre Test 1:
Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence
Swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. - Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. - Swim goggles are allowed.
Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
Pre Test 2:
Timed Event Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. - The face may be in or out of the water. - Swim goggles are not allowed.
Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face at or near the surface.
Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Successful participants will receive Lifeguard Certifications from Red Cross as well as CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications which they are certified for 2 years.

Lifeguard Certification Class Dates
Classes will be held at First Christian Church in Kernersville. Participants will need to complete ALL days of class in order to be eligible for certification.
Class Cost: $300
Reimbursement eligible for: A contracted employee guarding at Umbrella Aquatic Group locations, meeting employment requirements.

Re-Certification
Class Dates
Classes will be held at The Crossings Church in Kernersville. Participants will need to complete both days of class in order to be eligible for certification.
*Original certification must be within 30 days of expiration or before. If the current certification has expired longer than 30 days, you must participate and complete the full certification course.
Class Cost: $200
Reimbursement eligible for: A contracted employee guarding at Umbrella Aquatic Group locations, meeting employment requirements.

At the age of 15 Keri became a Lifeguard. Soon after she was teaching swimming and coaching. After her first response to an emergency in the water she began to gain an interest in emergency care. Since then, becoming a Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor has been a rewarding experience. Seeing individuals learn lifesaving skills and leave with confidence that can help them be great leaders as lifeguards is very important to the future of water safety.

Lifeguard Certification
American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses.

CPR/First Aid/AED Training
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies.
The courses in this program teach skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. This
